Why consider strength and mobility together?

Strength, balance and flexibility activities can support mobility in older adults. A fall or fear of falling may also need a broader medical assessment. Age alone does not define the right exercise programme or explain every new symptom.

How we approach your care

  1. Discuss health history, relevant reports and difficulties with walking, stairs or household tasks.

  2. Agree on an individual rehabilitation plan suited to the person’s condition and functional goals.

  3. Review response and adapt exercises or other appropriate care, with home guidance when indicated.

Sessions, progress and realistic expectations

The clinic commonly sees older adults with joint stiffness and reduced mobility. Goals are individual and may include more comfortable walking or improved daily function. There is no guarantee of preventing every fall or restoring a fixed level of independence.

Typical physiotherapy appointments last around 60 minutes, depending on individual needs. Ask about the proposed treatment time and review schedule for this service. Your total course is decided after assessment.

More about recovery and follow-up

When to seek medical help

Seek emergency help after a fall if you cannot get up or may have injured your head, neck, back or hip. Other injuries, pain or feeling unwell after a fall need medical advice. Sudden weakness, chest pain or breathing difficulty should not be treated as simply part of ageing.

This is general information, not an individual diagnosis or a complete list of warning signs. Emergency symptoms need medical care, not a routine appointment.

Your questions, answered

Is the clinic accessible for someone using a wheelchair?

The doctor confirms a ground-floor entrance and wheelchair access throughout the treatment area. Toilet facilities are available within the clinic.

Are home visits available?

Home physiotherapy visits are available, mainly in Okhla and nearby areas. Visits to other locations can be discussed with the clinic. Timings and suitability are agreed with each patient.

Can someone with knee arthritis be assessed?

Yes. Knee pain and osteoarthritis-related difficulties are part of the confirmed clinical scope.

Is it too late to discuss strength and movement?

Age alone is not the deciding factor. The person’s health, limitations and goals guide assessment and care.

Will exercises be the same for every older patient?

No. The clinic plans care individually and reviews the response.

Can I discuss a recent fall?

Yes, but suspected fractures or serious new symptoms require medical evaluation first. Tell the clinic what happened and any advice already received.

Why do repeated falls need more than balance exercises?

Falls can involve several factors, including strength, eyesight, medicines, blood pressure and hazards at home. A broader assessment may be needed alongside exercise, especially after repeated falls, injury or difficulty getting up. Physiotherapy does not replace medical evaluation of these other factors.

What does a falls-prevention exercise programme involve?

It should be tailored to the person and progressed according to their ability, with regular reviews. Appropriate programmes can focus on balance, coordination, strength and everyday movements. Confirm the assessment and support available locally; this does not establish that the clinic offers a complete specialist falls service.

Is physiotherapy useful for joint pain and arthritis?

For osteoarthritis, tailored strengthening and general fitness exercise can reduce pain and improve function over time. Some discomfort can occur when starting; agree how to adjust the programme and report new or worsening symptoms. The clinic assesses joint pain and movement difficulties individually. Physiotherapy does not cure osteoarthritis or promise to regrow cartilage.

Is physiotherapy safe for older adults?

Age alone does not rule out physiotherapy. Appropriately adapted strength and balance work can support everyday movement and confidence, but activity must suit the person’s health and fitness. Share medical conditions, medicines, recent falls and restrictions. The clinic assesses older adults individually; those with health concerns or a long period of inactivity may need medical advice before starting exercise.

Can physiotherapy help with mobility and flexibility?

Joint mobility, strength and functional rehabilitation are part of the clinic’s confirmed care. Explain the activities you want to return to, such as walking, stairs or household tasks. Appropriate goals and expected progress depend on individual assessment.
